Grilled Nutella Sandwich

Today I had a hankering for something sweet. So...
I went rummaging through the cupboard looking for some inspiration, and lo and behold, hiding behind a can of pumpkin was a forgotten jar of Nutella!!! Woo Hoo! In case you don't know, Nutella (as stated on the jar) is a "hazelnut spread with skim milk and cocoa.":) Now...what should I make with it? Hmmmm...I also had a partial loaf of challah(a braided egg bread with a hint of sweetness). I decided to make a grilled nutella sandwich:) Way back when, I had seen a chocolate sandwich(made with chopped chocolate on sourdough) on the food network and thought that nutella would work perfectly!
I buttered the skillet and while the butter melted I slathered one slice of bread with the creamy, chocolatey, hazelnut (full of antioxidants, right?) spread. So decadent! I let it brown for a few minutes. I placed the second slice on top(just like a grilled cheese) and then flipped the sandwich over.

But before I flipped it, I threw some more butter on the grill for good measure:) See the sizzle?
Golden, crispy, buttery bread with chocolate oozing out the sides...can't get much better than that! So easy and so good! Maybe next time I'll add bananas or a bit of peanut butter:) The sky's the limit!

Pure satisfaction:)

  2. I actually have been making these for a long time now, but I sprinkle a tiny bit of salt on the nutella before sandwiching, then on the buttery bread I sprinkle a tad of sugar so it gets a good caramelization...so addictive it will be on Intervention soon!!!

  3. Oh my goodness. My family would live off Nutella if we could. Why have I never made these before. Do I dare make them? What a delicious dilemma.
