These cookies were super easy to make because I didn't outline and fill in the stripes.
I started out with a 3"x5" cookie cutter(same size as an index card) for the cookies and used my favorite sugar cookie recipe. (This link includes the royal icing.)
I outlined the white section, let it dry, then filled the area in with the white royal icing.
I did the same thing for the blue section, but with blue icing:) I used tip #3 for all the outlining.
After the white dried I applied the red stripes right on top of the white. To apply them I used an icing bag with tip #102 (I first tried the stripes out on an outline of the cookie cutter on a piece of paper).
For the stars I used a small star tip, #13, and applied them with the white when the blue icing dried.
(For the coloring I used Wilton Royal Blue and for the red I actually used a squirt of some red coloring that I got from a local bakery(I don't know what it is).
These cookies are perfect for the 4th of July or any patriotic holiday or occasion!
Have fun and Happy Baking!
