April Fool's Day Cookies {Updated}, and some little guys too:)

Last year for April Fool's Day, I made a template and fashioned some cookies to resemble the plastic nose/glasses that have been around "forever".  You can usually find them at the 99-cent store. (Click HERE to see the cookie/template/how-to, on my post from last year*.)
*I did cut off a bit of cookie dough from both sides of the nose before I baked them this year.
As soon as I spied the fabulous marshmallow noses (used for the "Pie in the Face" treat) in the FUN book (which I own) cupcakes, cookies & pie, oh, my!, I knew my original cookie needed a nose job:)

The directions for the nose are linked here (from the "Pie in the Face" recipe), and it is noted on the site that permission was granted from the publisher.
I made the noses as directed in the instructions, but discovered that they were too small for my cookie.  My husband bought some mega marshmallows a while back, and they came in quite handy!  As you can see on the cookie pop, they are twice as big as a normal size marshmallow.

I also baked the little round cookies (cut from the middle of the glasses) and set them aside.  Though it wasn't planned, it dawned on me to use the mini cookies (2-inch) to make funny faces with the original noses:)  They make me laugh!

Last month I was sent a "candy kit" from Wrigley, and took this opportunity to use the Life Savers Mints for the eyes on the funny faces cookies.  Perfect!  (I am sitting here eating the little canister of mints like popcorn!) Thank you, Wrigley!  I love mints because they settle my stomach, especially when I eat too many cookies:) I have more "candy kit" treats up my sleeve, which I will share in the next couple of weeks.

Royal icing was used for the glasses, the mustaches, and as "glue" to hold the noses together and to adhere them (and the eyes) to the cookies.  Mini m&m candies were used for the eyes also. I ended up making 6 cookie pops and 12 small cookies.

Unfortunately, nobody was around to model my cookies on a stick, but hopefully you get the idea.

These cookies would be perfect for April Fool's Day of course, or just for FUN!

ENJOY!

Receiving free products from Wrigley in no way influenced my opinion of their products.

  3. I volunteer to be your model Sue!! Wow, how funny. Whenever I am at the dollar store I ALWAYS seem to buy a pair of these to wear around the house. I always "threaten" Sophia that I am going to wear them into school when I pick her up!! How funny to make these as cookies, she would love it. Thanks also for linking up, super great to have this and also for your nice comments. Hugs.
