Isn't this one of the cutest cookie designs you've ever seen for a camping theme? The minute I saw these slumbering bears in Lisa Snyder's book, 100 Animal Cookies, I was smitten, and knew they would be the first cookie I'd make from the book. It's the perfect cookie to help spotlight Lisa, since she is The Bearfoot Baker!
If you aren't familiar with The Bearfoot Baker, then you're in for a real treat! Lisa is as sweet as her cookies and so much fun! Right now on her blog she is making 10 turkey cookies in 10 days with 10 different cutters. How awesome is that!?! Today was turkey number 3! She has a way with animals, as you can plainly see. :)
Just look at these adorable squirrel, panda and lion cookies. Lisa Snyder's book has beautiful photographs throughout. including the step-by-step instructions, which were very clear and helpful.
The supply list for the campout cookies called for a "bear face" cookie cutter. Since I don't own a bear face cutter, I used an ice cream cone cutter. I cut off the cone part, and ended up with a nice little bear head. :) I was pretty pleased!
This bear couple represents my husband and me. This month is our anniversary and we will be celebrating by going camping in Big Sur.
I added a cute, flower sprinkle for the girly bear, some eyelashes, and pink disco dust cheeks.
The only other modification I made to Lisa's design was with the noses. I did not use royal icing transfers for the noses (due to time constraints), but piped them directly onto the cookies.
100 Animal Cookies also includes techniques, recipes, tips & tricks, tools and equipment.
Templates are provided for the royal icing transfers.
I can't wait to make more cookies from this fabulous book!
